HDTV cables are conduits of HDTV transmissions. There are two kinds of HDTV connections: analog or digital. Various HDTV cables are used for these connections. They should be of good quality and well installed to guarantee a fully reliable system.

Analog HDTV cables

Analog HDTV signals are either RGB (usually RGBHV) or component video (Y/Pb/Pr).

Component connections are made using RCA connectors. These connectors transfer SDTV NSTC signals from external devices such as DVD or VHS to HDTV displays. Component cables are usually color coded: green for Y, blue for Pb and red for Pr. Audio cables are also color-coded: red for Right audio and white for Left audio.

Seventy-five (75) ohm video coaxial cables are suitable for these applications. These HDTV cables end with RCA plugs, BNCs or VGA monitor plugs.

HDTV analog signals are ten times stronger than NTSC. HDTV signals scale up to 35 MHz while NTSC reaches only up to 3.5 MHz. It is important that HDTV cables which connect devices together maintain a consistent impedance of 75 ohms. HDTV cables which do not meet proper specifications will cause ghosting or “ringing” of projected images because portions of the signal issues back and forth within the cable instead of being smoothly delivered to the screen.

Before purchasing analog HDTV cables, make sure that the device has been sweep-tested at least up to 105 MHz. Also, check that the impedance tolerance is 75 ohms within +/- 1.5 ohms.

Digital HDTV cables

Digital HDTV cables exist in SDI or Serial Digital Interface. However, this very strong cable is still commercially unavailable. In the market are the DVI (Digital Visual Interface) and HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface ).

Bi-directional connection between computers and monitors is possible through dual-channel versions of DVI. These connections carry only video. Audio must be carried by other HDTV cables.

HDMI carries digital uncompressed audio between devices such as an STB and a display. Smaller connectors are used with HDMI. The HDMI HDTV cable allows for bi-directional interface also. HDMI uses a 19 pin connector for single link or a larger 29 pin connector for dual link.

Cables to interconnect DVI and HDMI devices are also available.

DVI and HDMI are characterized by very short cable lengths because they designed to house a copy-protection scheme. Digital HDTV cables use twisted-pair cable not coaxial cables which analog HDTV cables use. DVI and HDMI work without problems over short distances but some low-quality cables falter beyond ten feet.

Practically no digital HDTV cable works beyond fifty feet. Pre-formed DVI cables up to 10 ft. in length are available. Longer lengths require specialized materials and are expensive. Although digital interconnections produce highest video and audio quality, running over long distances is the limitation of digital HDTV cables.

Other cables

S-Video Cables. are used in some televisions to improve picture quality of NTSC signals. Audio must be interconnected separately using RCA cables. S-Video cables are available in any length.

F Cables are coaxial cables with F-connectors used to connect to antennas or satellite dishes to the TV cable system. Several possible cables are selected depending on the length needed. RG-59 is acceptable for short lengths but a low-loss cable is needed for roof-top antennas.

Mini DB 15 RGB Monitor Cables are used to connect PC to HDTV displays with analog RGB interfaces. These cables extend up to 5 meters. Special cables are needed beyond this length. Screw locks secure the connectors to warrant a firm connection.

Firewire/1394 is designed for digital video connections. Audio and video are carried together. The four pin version is the most common but six pin versions are also available for some devices. Prefabricated HDTV cables like these are up to 3 meters.

Dolby Digital audio in SPDIF format is frequently transmitted in optical form. Fiber link, an optical fiber cable which is also called “optical audio output cable”, may be employed to send these transmissions to the decoder in the audio system. Excessive bending or twisting of these cables must be avoided as not to break the fiber inside.

A Cabling Authority For HDTV

Cables are crucial in making sure the listeners or viewer maximizes his homes video or audio system. Poor cables are normally susceptible to noise and interference that negatively affects the signals produced by the source unit. In addition, low quality cables will rob the consumers of all the benefits of investing a huge amount in a particular system.

A considerable number of A/V components do have all the cables needed in a setup, while there are those that contain a cable that is too long. Cables that included by a source manufacturer do not normally measure up to the quality of those made by aftermarket companies. Using the right cable is one of the needs in order to maximize your HDTV viewing pleasure.

Enter digital video interconnects

The development of digital video connections resulted from the adoption of digital video sources and displays. There are only two digital video options and these are HDMI cables and DVI cables.

HDMI and DVI cables will greatly benefit TVs that have a “fixed’-pixel” display. These cables allow video signals to remain digital up till they reach the screen. Digital pictures do have the snowy and grainy effects normally seen in analog pictures. Both cable types can carry HDTV video signals. The demand for the said cables has sharply increase over the past two years, as more and more people are using HD-compatible TVs and HDTV tuners.

HDTV Antenna, Receivership and Signals and More on HDTV

Sam was doing a research about HDTVs.

For a start, he was practically and initially confused about HDTVs. He is an expert in television, what, he is a certified TV addict, a couch potato.

In his current lifetime, he has purchased around 20 television sets all in al. However, al his past TV purchases were all analogs, because they were the in thing during those times.

Now, everything ha changed. Sam feels hat he is almost left behind. It is time to move on and get along with he current and emerging technology in TV. N one should be better than him, he thought, in that aspect because he is the most eligible and certified TV addict in the neighborhood.

HDTVs can be too complicated and complex a notion for Sam and his flock. Read on and learn more.

HDTV

High definition television sets or HDTVs are now becoming very popular among TV addicts and TV buyers.

The HDTV was introduced to the market in 1998. It was one of the most outstanding innovations the industry has come up with since the invention of the TV in 1926.

Thus, because it is rather new technology, it follows that HDTVs are ractically far more expensive than the rest of the TV products offered in the market toda.

High definition television or HDTV is the fast rising and more popular TV technology that is making the market anticipating, excited and longing all at the same time.

Warm perception for HDTV depends and is attributed on its ability and feature that is far more superior compared to its earlier counterparts in the TV manufacturing industry.

On the average, marketers and sales men estimate that the price of an HDTV is about 15 to 25 times more o above the price tag for the regular and conventional TV sets currently out and released in the market.

HDTV pronounce a very far and positive advancement for the modern television viewing. HDTV somehow creates a new trend in the media equipment industry because of its high resolution and distinct features that set it apart and outstanding among all the TVs out in the market today.

HDTV antenna

A downside for HDTV is its signal or HDTV antenna capacity. Because HDTV uses the complex and sophisticated digital broadcasting technology, HDTV must have its own compatible and specially designed HDTV antenna that is not compatible to receive or accept signals from analog TV broadcast transmitters.

Current broadcast technologies employed by all TV networks are still analog. It is estimated that a complete switch to digital TV transmission will be far costlier and more expensive for the whole TV industry.

In the case of the United States, which is one of the countries to switch to digital broadcasting in 2007, legislators have acknowledged the expense and costs that will go along with the switch.

Because digital TV transmissions will never be received by analog TV antenna, the analog TVs will inevitably made obsolete.

The HDTV with its superior and digital broadcast compatible HDTV antenna will be too costly for households with average and below average income. Ending TV entertainment for this demographic will also be very unfair.

HDTV signal receivership

HDTV antenna is the external equipment or part of the HDTV that will set it apart from other and currently existing TV models and equipment.

For analysts and experts, HDTV antenna is the significant factor, or the key to the full-scale success and operation of digital HDTV broadcasts.

It can not be complicated than that. HDTV antenna is compatible only to HDTV television sets. Thus, TV antenna for analog TV is only for analog TV and those for HDTV is only for HDTVs.

Like begets like. As they say, compatibility, just like in marriages is the key to a harmonious life-long relationship. In the TV world, HDTV is married to HDTV antenna. No adultery, both will not work without the significant other.

The US Senate bill is proposing to implement a law or legislation that would allow the complete shift in TV broadcast transmission from analog to digital.

That means that after February 17, 2009, the conventional, traditional and widely used analog TV sets in the United States will be obsolete and almost completely useless.

Analog TV sets would not be able to receive signal transmissions from digital broadcasters anymore. Thus, the lower-income TV viewers would have to be deprived of TV entertainment. That would certainly spell trouble, in big bold words.

However, the US Senate also approved a resolution that would make the federal government subsidize the average-income consumers’ use of converter boxes to enable them to watch the proposed, improved, better and new digital broadcasts from their favorite TV network still using their analog TVs.

The initiative will be timely and called for because HDTV antennas will come along with new HDTVs, and they would not be compatible with analog TVs.

The proposed legislation would definitely allow low-income analog TV users to still use their analog TVs but at the same time empower them and give them access to digital TV broadcasts.

That resolution is still pending in the US Senate. But people expect the transition to digital broadcasts to resume and take place within the allotted time frame. Thus, converter boxes will also be popular in a couple years time as digital broadcasts conquers the air waves and digital TV sets still remain expensive.

HDTVs

High definition television or HDTV is the fast rising and more popular TV technology that is making the market anticipating, excited and longing all at the same time.

Warm perception for HDTV depends and is attributed on its ability and feature that is far more superior compared to its earlier counterparts in the TV manufacturing industry.

On the average, marketers and sales men estimate that the price of an HDTV is about 15 to 25 times more o above the price tag for the regular and conventional TV sets currently out and released in the market.

HDTV quality

The most breath-taking feature of the HDTV is its superior screen quality. The screen of HDTV is far more better than the screen quality of the conventoal analog TV.

What more, with the excellent sound quality that comes along in the package with HDTV, it is totally awesome! Nothing can compare to it.

For analysts and experts, HDTV antenna is the significant factor, or the key to the full-scale success and operation of digital HDTV broadcasts.

Get a full hold of the HDTV technology now. When you do, do not forget the HDTV eternal antenna that comes along with the HDTV unit. Experience the difference, now!

High Definition Television or HDTV has come a long way since the first blinking black and white televisions. It now can offer a near real life touch of audio and video for the consumers. If only TV screens can be like portals to another dimension.

Definition Of Terms

1. Analog TV

An analog TV is different from a digital TV that it can only transmit the video signal and nothing more. During the transmission of an analog signal, many kinds of problem can happen such as interference. Interference such as noise can distort the television picture.

Likewise, an analog signalcan cause the pictures to be snowy and distorted.

2. Digital TV

Digital TV signals on the other hand, can contain bits (ones and zeros) that are transmitted through a Digital Receiver that is otherwise termed as a tuner, decoder or set-top-box.

This digital receiver cracks the digital code resulting to an almost perfect image.

3. Digital Television (DTV)

Digital television was assigned with about 18 formats by the ATSC. Only about six of these eighteen formats are considered to be HDTV.

4. Standard Definition Television (SDTV)

Standard definition television or SDTV basically refers to transmission of digital signals with 480 line resolution. The resolution can either be scanned in interlaced or progressive formats.

Standard definition television offers a big improvement over the digital TV in picture resolution comparable to the edge of DVD over the VHS in quality.

Standard Definition television also eliminates the snow and ghosts inherent in NTSC analog formats.

4. High Definition Television (HDTV)

High definition televisions are digital televisions (DTV) that is the latest in TV technology. In terms of quality in audio and visual, high definition television is supreme over the standard definition television.

The Best Set Up For High Definition Television

The ideal situation when setting up an HDTV is by receiving a pure digital signal via cable. Receiving these digital signals via cable can be by DirecTV or by Dish TV HDTV.

Digital signals from DirecTV and Dish TV HDTV is received by a digital receiver and are displayed on a digital TV set.

The best set to receive DirecTv or Dish Tv HDTV is a front or rear projection HDTv or even plasma TV. These HDTV sets have a standard aspect ratio of 16:9.

Dish TV HDTV

Dish TV HDTV or Dish network usually transmits high definition broadcasts of special events, such as concerts or boxing events. Aside from this, subscribers of Dish TV HDTV can likewise watch special broadcasts of sporting events from the professional scene in high definition broadcast. Special broadcasts from such respected organizations such as NFL, NBA, NCAA, etc.

Dish TV HDTV also has an optional 8VSB tuner wherein subscribers can watch the local off air broadcasts via an off air antenna. These off air broadcasts transmitted by Dish TV HDTV are in high definition.

Some of the channels offered by Dish TV HDTV are Discovery Channel, HBO, CBS, pay per View, Showtime and NBA TV.

The Dish TV HDTV makes it relatively easy for subscribers to watch HDTv shows. A subscriber only needs to point the HDTV antenna to the Dish TV HDTV satellite, acquire a Dish Tv HDTV receiver and a HDTV ready television.

Dish TV HDTV offers no long term subscriptions. This is because high definition programs are at a very expensive price. Subscribers of Dish TV HDTV can choose from a range of movie channels, nature programming or educational channels that are of theater quality.

The 8VSB tuner for DIsh TV HDTV alone costs about US $ 149. Consumers can just imagine how much a long term subscription can cost when it comes to high definition television.

Dish TV HDTV requires the Model 6000U high definition television receiver. This receiver promises to bring sharper images and clearer sound right inside the living room bringing television programming into life.

This HDTV receiver promises to bring six tiimes the picture quality of a standard digital TV. The Dish Tv HDTV receiver includes an Enhanced HD adapter that is programmed to receive QPSK or 8PSK high definition signals.

Dish TV HDTV also offers free channels for the subscribers. The channels mentioned a while ago; HBO, CBS, Showtime and NBA TV are supposedly free to subscribers except for HBO which has a separate HBO subscription.
